The Headlines Were LOUD. Can Our Work Tell A Different Story Though?

Let’s rewind to the week of April 14th.

Tariffs hit.
Markets shook.
The headlines? Loud.
Fear, speculation, and a lot of bold predictions.

Now, here’s what happened in my world that same week:
Four homes went under contract or sold. Four.

In a single week.

It was one of the busiest stretches I’ve had in a while—and a strong reminder that life on the ground doesn’t always match what’s swirling in the headlines.

I’m not saying we should ignore the news. I read it. I stay informed. But if I’d been glued to the cycle, letting the noise drive my thinking, there’s no way I would have stayed steady enough to guide my clients through their biggest financial decisions.

Because real estate is emotional. It’s high-stakes.

And in times of uncertainty, clients need calm. Not more chaos.

Here’s what that week taught me (or maybe just reminded me):

You find your footing in what’s close.

So here’s a question: What were the biggest demands facing the people closest to you last week?

  • What deadline does your spouse need to meet?

  • What homework does your kid need to get done for school?

  • What friend needs you to check in?

We all crave stability. But we don’t find it scrolling headlines. We build it in the relationships we show up for.

That week, my phone didn’t stop ringing. I wrote offers, negotiated terms, navigated inspections—and I did it all while making sure the people around me felt grounded and seen.

That’s how we make good decisions in the middle of uncertainty:
We pay attention to what matters.
We lead with presence, not panic.
We take care of what’s in front of us.

The world may be noisy, but the work we do—helping families buy, sell, and move forward—is deeply human. That’s where the real story is. And it’s where I’ll keep showing up.
